Difference Between Wigs, Glued Hair and Rooted Hair

It's always best to know what kind of materials the dolls are made of and what kind of maintenance they need so you can keep them at their best for years to come.  Each type of hair and method we use for Paradise Galleries dolls requires a different care and styling. Read this blog and learn the differences between wigs, glued, and rooted hair.

Doll Wig

Wig is the most common type of hair used on dolls. It gives a thicker hair look, and it's easier to maintain and style. It is made from synthetic fibers that are spun into shape to resemble hair. Synthetic hair is sewn into netting and glued on to the scalp of the doll.

Rooted Hair

Rooted hair is finer and softer, and give a more realistic hair look and feel. But it is more labor-intensive and takes a longer, more delicate process as each doll has to be manually rooted and styled by a machine. Rooted hair can be  synthetic fibers or mohair grouped into small clusters and carefully poked into the doll vinyl head.

Glued Hair

We commonly use mohair as a hair type for all glued hair. Mohair is identical to human hair as it has similar structure and consistency, and treated the same way when it comes to care and styling. Harvested from Angora goats, this animal-hair fiber is directly and gently glued by our doll experts onto the doll vinyl hair.
